Moncef Kahloucha the hidden talent in world of cinema
|
The tunisian phenomenon Moncef Kahloucha, a great fan of 1970s movies, and also a house painter, shoots hilarious feature films in VHS with the help of the inhabitants of Kazmet, a poor district in Sousse from Tunisia. He produces, directs and stars in his films which are an opportunity for the locals to get away from their dull lives and to experience unique moments, from preparation to the screening of the film in the local café. The camera follows Kahloucha shooting his latest production: Tarzan of the Arabs.
I was met with him at the street of Habib Bourguiba in Tunis during the Carthage Film Festival in its 50th anniversary. Kahloucha was not one of the festival guests but he was came at his sole love of cinema. He was talking to me about his adventure and many things he wanted to conveying his message for the festival management through this video interview. |
When I interviwed Kahloucha he seems to me that he is a not normal cinematic character and he was acting with great spontaneity.
