The French embassies in Libya and Tunisia united today to organize a festival "For Libya / Min ajl Libya" on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 March, in the spaces of the French Institute of Tunisia, to celebrate Libya , Its invaluable heritage, its unique identity, its rich culture, its artistic creation and the abundance of civil society initiatives. This joint initiative of the French Institutes of Libya and Tunisia demonstrates that another Libya is possible.
During these two days, preceded by half a day devoted to the economy (Friday, March 10, by invitation only), rich and diverse events have been organized: round tables on heritage and social sciences, meetings with Writers and poets around a literary café, lectures, an exhibition of paintings, calligraphy and photographs and a contemporary art installation. A festival of Libyan gastronomy, musical interludes and concerts of Libyan music (malouf, zoukra, touareg and rap) will accompany this festival. The event has been held under the patronage of Mr. Jack Lang, President of the Arab World Institute (IMA) and organizer of the international conference on the endangered heritage of Abu Dhabi. As guest of honor, Jean-Luc Martinez, president and director of the Musée du Louvre and author of the fifty French proposals to protect the heritage of humanity, will preside over the round table on the ancient heritage of Libya. |
